G: Each island due to his recklessness and itching for a fight, Luffy's reputation grew more and more, and his bounty skyrocketed. And as he adventures more and more people join his crew: such as a doctor named Chopper, Nico Robin a navigator, a cyborg shipwright named Franky, a musician named Brook, and former warlord Jinbe. On each island he either protects it by removing a lethal threat like Kuro, Krieg, and Buggy, or dethroning a tyrant like Crocodile, Moria, or Arlong. P: Monkey D Luffy may not be a hero, but he stands on the side of good. N: Luffy considered the hat a treasure, and decided not to go with Shanks, and to set out on his own crew instead. Buuut Shanks saved his life, and gave Luffy the iconic strawhat. But did not have time to think about that as Luffy challenges a thug who harassed Shanks and got kidnapped. G: Monkey D Luffy was disheartened at the knowledge of not being able to swim, which meant he could not join Shank's crew. During these meetings Luffy accidentally ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi or the rubber rubber fruit and allowed him to stretch. He wanted to be a pirate badly, but Shanks did not want to take Luffy on his crew as he couldn't swim and was a little immature.
